Wednesday – Goslar

Goslar is a cute old city in the Harz Mountains south of Hannover. Most of northern Germany is flat so this is the resort area for the north. Even the royalty in the past built a large palace here. This was the seat of power for Germany in the 11th century.

Each with a camera, we cannot be anything other than tourists.

And there is no lack of beauty here.

Legend has it that on the night of April 30, witches rise from the mountain top near here. The shops sell all kinds of witch stuff.

We wonder if the city walls were to defend against invading armies or witches.

Arriving back home it was raining but with a choice of emergency peanut butter and crackers in the room or a sandwich at the ice cream parlor, you know where we went.
